Greece virtually hosts 200 FIRST® LEGO® League teams from across the globe to compete in an online event, while it celebrates 200 years of independence.
This FIRST® LEGO® League adventure, which coincides with the Bicentennial commemoration, sends out a unique and deeply meaningful message of hope for the future and steadfast global friendship, right from the heart of Greece.
It is a message emerging from almost 2.000 students from all over the world, who continued to innovate in STEM & Robotics against all odds during this challenging year, keeping the flame of the FIRST® LEGO® League community alive.
Stepping into the world of sports through robotics for this year’s event, Greece wishes to commemorate another point in its history - the birth of the Olympic Games, the most popular sporting event worldwide.
The spot allocation to the countries pays tribute to the ancient Olympiad model, striving to reach representatives from every state/nation.
Teams are challenged to build robots for the Robot Game and present their Innovation Project for the Game Changers season – Powered by STAR WARS. All the judging procedures are to be held virtually with the 115 countries connecting and interacting again after a two-year gap, with the help of technology.
Undoubtedly, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and daily events, including highlights, quizzes, inspirational speeches, videos, and cultural commemorations will reassure the legacy of the FIRST LEGO League spirit in the virtual sphere.
